The CSA is delighted to welcome all members and friends to our End of Year event featuring international Special Guest speaker Professor Alain Strowel (UCLouvain) who will unpack some of the most closely watched copyright cases in Europe right now. In the wake of the hotly awaited Streamz case, Professor Strowel will discuss Belgium’s groundbreaking residual remuneration rights for creators, and share his insights on the Meta Ireland press publishers’ decision and the pending CJEU cases on AI. Associate Professor  Rita Matulionyte (Macquarie Law School) will then join him for a lively discussion on her research into compulsory licensing and extended collective licensing (ECL) and how it might inform Australian copyright reforms.

We are very excited to wrap up our 2026 events program with this important discussion on how the world is rethinking fair pay for creators in the age of AI.
